While Uganda is actively trying to expand into newer Asian frontiers like China and Japan, traditional Western trade channels remain the absolute bedrock of this export engine. [1, 2]

According to the latest trade logs compiled by Uganda Investment Authority, “Italy remains Uganda's biggest importer of coffee, followed by Sudan, Germany, India, Morocco, China, Spain, the United States, Belgium, and Portugal.”

Europe alone continues to snap up over 60% of total Ugandan shipments, with Italian roasteries consuming nearly a third of all beans leaving the port of Mombasa. [1]

Meanwhile, regional trade under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) is quietly gathering steam. Coffee exports to other African markets—most notably Sudan, Morocco, and Egypt—surged significantly, securing an impressive 24% of the total export market share. [1]
